Our clay workshops are broken up into 2 parts.

The making portion is now up to 1.5 hours for hand building (instead of 1 hour) and up to 1 hour glazing!  2.5 hours clay workshop! Woo hoo!

Step 1: MAKE
Attend the clay workshop on the date & time you selected.
Watch our curator's step by step instructions in our Demonstration Room. The demo is about *15 minutes, which means you really have to be on time. :) Even come a little early! Look around, say hi! Please, please, be on time.  *Please note: the 15 minutes demo, does not apply to clay wheel workshops.

Instruction will commence within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time. Please arrive on time to ensure you get the full instructions before entering the clay studio to create your project.

Next, move into the Clay Studio! You have up to one hour and 15 minutes to sculpt your clay, get creative and add the details. So come on in; grab a coffee and take a seat. The creating time is self directed for you to enjoy the process of creating!

Please note workshops are sold by the seat. We will not have space for observers/helpers. Each person attending must be registered (i.e. parent and child are both registered).

In some circumstances, you can! If you would like to paint your piece immediately after creation you may do so if the glazing room is still open. The last seating for the glazing room begins an hour before close (last seating is at 8 if we close at 9). If you are in a workshop earlier in the day then of course you can glaze right away! Just let your instructor know that day and enjoy a self-led hour of adding beautiful colours to your piece.

Step 2: GLAZE

After you have created your clay piece it will embark on quite the journey :)

First it will stay in our studio for 5-10 days to completely dry. Once dry it will be put into our kiln for it’s first of two firings. This is called the ‘bisque fire’.

Once your clay has been bisque fired, we will send you an email to let you know it is time to book your glazing time. Return to the studio within 2 weeks to glaze your project in our amazing glazing room!

Here is when you add details, colour and shine! This time is self directed, step by step instructions are posted in the room. Our staff is there to help if needed. You are able to book the glazing room for up to one hour, however, if the next time slot is not full you are welcome to stay a little longer.

It is recommended you wait until your clay has been bisque fired in the kiln before glazing.
*All glazing times must be booked, please no drop-ins.
*Did we mention, please be on time?

Families are welcome to join the workshops! Please note you may be in the demo room with adults and then be seated at family designated tables in the studio.

Recommended minimum age is 6 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult who is able to assist the child during the project when necessary. Children must be supervised at all times and cannot be left in the retail area alone please. Maximum 2 children per 1 adult please.

*Please note all workshops after 6pm are for ages 12 and up only.
*Please note workshops are sold by the seat. We will not have space for observers/helpers. Each person attending must be registered (i.e. parent and child are both registered).

We do not offer refunds. You can transfer your workshop booking up to 24 hours before the workshop using the link provided you in the booking confirmation. We cannot provide a transfer after this time.

Running late? Aw man! We understand that sometimes there are unforeseeable issues. These things happen.

If you are 5 minutes late to a workshop it makes it really hard on the instructor and the demonstration. This can be avoided by arriving 5-10 minutes early. The classroom itself will open up 5 minutes before the start of the demonstration so you have time to grab an apron and settle in.

If you are more than 5 minutes late to a workshop demonstration you will miss the instruction and the necessary steps in the project and you may not be able to join in. This is at the discretion of the instructor.

Understand that we cannot offer a refund or credit if you are late and unable to join the class.  If there is room in the next demonstration, you are welcome to join that one instead.

We require 24 hours notice for any cancellations and transfers.

You can make changes to your booking up to 24 hours before. If the change you make requires less payment than originally paid, a credit will be entered on your account (i.e. a booking changes from 4 people to 3, the amount paid for the 4th person will be added to your account.)
