Our Exploratory Art class, is an excellent artistic opportunity for students to explore and experiment with a variety of mediums, learn interesting techniques and create using professional 4Cats art supplies. Students will choose to create their projects based on their own interests, choices and preferences.
Ages: 4 to 15. ( For ages 3 to 5 see here)Duration: 1.5 hrs per class
Why does this studio only offer Exploratory Classes now? Our goal is to encourage passion driven learning that encourages curiosity and creativity. We believe that when students are provided with the opportunity to work at their own pace and to create self-chosen projects they become more focused, creative decision makers and develop a love of learning and independence.
Why is the link from a specialty class taking me to this class? Same Great Classes! More choice and the student decides! ALL of our specialty classes are intertwined in this wonderful student led program. All the projects for Street Art, Drawing, Clay, Artist of the Month, Painting, Princess and Mixed Media will be offered as choices in our Exploratory Class. If students wish to stick to one or two mediums that is ok too! They will have the opportunity to be as involved in one medium as we have traditionally done in our specialty classes. However, they will be able to create at their own pace and choose from many amazing projects within that medium.
Will my child still learn specific art medium techniques? Yes, it is exactly the same as what the students would have learned in specific specialty classes as long as the student chooses the specific medium projects.
Will the clay wheel be taught? Yes, wheel throwing will be an option, all of the clay projects for winter will be options.
Students may choose projects from our specialty class curriculum such as: Artist of the Month, Clay and Sculpture, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Street Art, Specialty Themed Classes such as Princess and Fairy
To prepare, it is important for kids to know to take their time, go slow and enjoy the process with their creations. When creating we will emphasize using different techniques and the art of adding small details.
We will encourage enjoying the process, creativity, patience, and attention to details.
Parents, please discuss this expectation with children before the class in order to ensure your child understands that we will be creating with details and practice in mind.
Our goal is to maintain a respectful, patient and creative learning environment. Please note disrespectful and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. In the event of misconduct, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately.
