FAQs—Camps
Registration
Full week, full days and half days are for ages 6-12.
Camps are designed for children aged 6 and up. Please do not register a 4-year-old, as they will not be permitted to stay and no refunds will be issued.
Occasionally, select studios may offer limited spots for 5-year-olds. If available, this option will appear directly on your studio’s registration calendar. If you don’t see it, it means it is not currently being offered at that location or the 5 year old spots have all been taken.
Full day: 9am-3pm, lunch at 12.
Mornings half day: 9am-12pm.
Afternoons half day: 1pm-4pm
If your child has attended the studio before and/or you feel they can do a full day, sure! Please note there are no refunds or credits for early pick up if your child needs to be picked up early for any reason. This includes behaviour issues. Students must be able to enter the studio classroom themselves.
Yes, from 3pm to 4pm. Please pack an extra snack and a self-directed activity for them to enjoy like reading or sketching (or we can give them a little studio job like testing our markers, wiping tables, or putting away supplies). This extra hour is a supervised quiet time for parents who need to pick up a little later. We do not offer a later option beyond 4 pm.
Preparation
Each day has different art projects which may be painting, sculpture, printmaking, or drawing. A full day of camp typically means students will make 2-3 projects. They will also learn art history through interactive learning with the instructors.
Please bring 1-2 nut-free snacks and a labelled water bottle. Food and beverages are not included. Full day students need to have a packed lunch.
Please do not pack toys, stuffed animals, iPads, or pets. These are all very distracting to other students and may get paint on them. If your child has a cell phone, please let them know it is not permitted to be used during camp time and needs to be kept away.
Dress for mess! Acrylic paint does not come out of clothes, especially once dry. We cannot guarantee that clay or other art materials will come out of clothes. Students should always come to the studio dressed for mess.
Yes, parents/guardians please discuss the following before student(s) arrive to camp. To prepare, it is important for kids to know to take their time, go slow and enjoy the process with their creations.
When creating we will emphasize using different techniques and the art of adding small details. We will encourage enjoying the process, creativity, patience, and attention to detail.
Parents, please discuss this expectation with children before camp in order to ensure your child understands that we will be creating with details and practice in mind.
Our goal is to maintain a respectful, patient, and creative learning environment. Please note disrespectful and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. In the event of misconduct, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately. No refunds or credits for missed time in the event a parent needs to be called if a child is not able continue with the class either partially or permanently due to bullying, or disruptive, violent, inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour.
Projects & Artwork
This can occasionally happen, as clay can be delicate and fragile before it is fired. We don’t offer refunds or remakes for damaged clay but we promise we treat each piece like it is a masterpiece.
Paintings, oven-bake clay, earthernware clay and print projects will be ready for pickup in approximately 14 days after they are made.
We offer new projects each day so our returning students have an experience that continues to ignite their passion for art. Our program features a diverse and ever-changing curriculum designed to keep students engaged and inspired. From collecting badges to exploring art history through the artist’s lens, your child will have a blast while learning and growing. Occasionally, we’ll revisit popular projects from past sessions—because some favourites are just too good not to do again!
We love that they’re excited—but badges can’t be bought, they have to be earned! Each one represents effort, creativity, and participation in class. That’s what makes them so special.
If your child loses a badge, don’t worry—we’re happy to replace it!
Safety And Behaviour
For the safety and security of our students, we do not leave the premises. This means you don’t have to worry about sunscreen, sun burns, bee stings, or heat stroke.
Camp is drop-off only, absolutely no exceptions please. Students must be able to enter the classroom by themselves. For students who are not able to settle there is no credit or refund.
Yes, every staff member has a police record check.
Students wash hands frequently, including before eating. The art studio is thoroughly sanitized at the end of every day, as well as throughout the day between activities. We do not permit students who are visibly ill to attend and ask that parents keep students home when they are sick.
Lateness/Absences/Cancellation
You can transfer your own camp booking using the view/change booking button at the bottom of your confirmation email. If you'd prefer the studio to handle the transfer, a $25 admin fee applies.
Please note that 2 weeks’ notice is required for cancellations or transfers. If you cancel with sufficient notice, we’re happy to offer a 30-day studio credit.
There are no catch up classes for camps and pa/pd day workshops. We do not offer refunds or credits for missed days, including for illness or behaviour issues.
Being on time is important—there’s lots to do each day at camp!
Late arrivals can be disruptive to the group and may delay the start of camp, which can lead to unfinished projects and a late finish. If you arrive late, please come in quietly with your child to avoid interrupting the flow of the session.
We aren’t able to answer the phone during busy class times, so the best thing you can do is arrive on time.
No. We do not offer this option.
Please note there are no refunds or credits offered if your child needs to be picked up early for any reason, including illness and behaviour issues. No refunds or credits for missed time in the event a parent needs to be called if a child is not able continue with the class either partially or permanently due to bullying, or disruptive, violent, inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour.
Issues, Behaviour & Conversation
We want every child to feel safe, supported, and excited to create! We ask that all participants follow instructions, use materials respectfully, and treat others with kindness. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour (like throwing materials, not listening to instructors, or bothering other artists) may result in the child being removed from class. In these cases, a parent or guardian will be called for immediate pickup. Thanks for helping us keep the studio a fun and creative space for everyone!
The Studio Leader is in charge of all decisions in the studio. You're already speaking to the manager—there’s no one else to escalate to, and no alternate answer waiting in the wings.
Our policies are clear, and they exist for a reason: they help us create a space that’s fun, respectful, and welcoming for everyone.
We totally understand that not every studio is the right fit for every person. If our vibe or policies aren’t your cup of tea, that’s okay. We truly wish you well on your creative journey.
We’re all about trying new things, having fun, and making art in a supportive space. That’s the kind of studio we’re proud to run.
Inclusion at 4Cats
At 4Cats, we believe that art is for everyone. Our kids programs are designed to be safe, welcoming, and joyful for all children. We’re dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for every child—regardless of ability, neurodiversity, cultural background, or personal identity. We celebrate individuality and encourage creativity without comparison.
Every child is unique. If your child has specific needs, we encourage you to share them with us ahead of time so we can plan together for a smooth and positive visit. We’re always listening, learning, and looking for ways to improve.
If additional support is required:
- A parent, guardian, caregiver, or aide is welcome to attend at no extra cost to provide 1:1 support during a kids-only session (where parents or guardians wouldn’t normally attend).
- We proudly accept the Access 2 card for all programs.
We understand that families managing disabilities or medical conditions may face unpredictable changes. While our classes are non-refundable, we’re happy to offer studio credit or transfers in accessibility-related situations. Just reach out—we’re here to help.
