Clay Wheel Class

Clay wheel classes that work with your schedule

Clay Wheel Workshop Timeline (1.5 Hour Class)

Arrive Early & Get Settled (First 15 Minutes)

Please arrive 5 minutes earlyโ€”โฐ I will arrive on time start right on time! Youโ€™ll be welcomed in and introduced to the wonderful world of wheel throwing. Instructors will walk you through the basics, show you the tools, and explain just enough to make you feel readyโ€”or at least confident enough to dive in with solid โ€œletโ€™s wing itโ€ energy.

Hands-On Creating Time (Next 60 Minutes)

This is your time to get messy, center some clay, and make your masterpiece. Itโ€™s chill, creative, and surprisingly emotionalโ€”donโ€™t be shocked if your slightly wobbly bowl suddenly feels like your new best friend.

Instructors = Your Clay Guardians

Throughout class, our instructors float around like friendly art fairies ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธโ€”offering tips, answering questions, and stepping in if you need a hand.

Already done this before? Just say, โ€œI got this,โ€ and weโ€™ll leave you to vibe in peace.

The Grand Finale (Final 15 Minutes)

As we wind down, weโ€™ll guide everyone through the clean-up processโ€”donโ€™t worry, itโ€™s quick and communal. Then itโ€™s time to make the big decision: which of your creations are keepers? You can choose up to 2 pieces to keep (included in the class price).

The rest? If something didnโ€™t quite turn out how you imagined (hey, it happens!), weโ€™ll lovingly recycle it back into future clay magic. No pressureโ€”just progress.

After Class: Your Pieceโ€™s Next Chapter

Your pottery stays with us to dry, be fired, and prepped for glazing. Then youโ€™ll return to add colour and personality during your glaze session. For now, you leave knowing you made something realโ€”way better than scrolling through someone elseโ€™s weekend. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The Magic Number: 14 ๐Ÿช„

Wondering about next steps? Just remember 14:

โ˜‘๏ธŽ When can I book my glazing?
Answer:
14 days.

โ˜‘๏ธŽ When can I pick up my art after glazing?
Answer:
after 14 days {unless we call you with some not so great news about cracking, mild explosions or kiln errors we need to deal with (all a natural part of a potter's life) in which cases we will give you a new timeline}

Just remember 14 - got it? ๐Ÿช„

โš ๏ธ The Rules & What You Need to Do โš ๏ธ What Customers Agree to on Website โš ๏ธ

Raise your right hand and sayโ€ฆ

โฐ I will arrive on time.

More than 10 mins late? We may need to rescheduleโ€”or you'll have to rush. Neither is fun, so please be on time ๐Ÿ•’

๐Ÿ‘‚ I will listen to the 15-minute demo.

Talking over the instructor = not cool. Youโ€™ll have plenty of time to catch up once we start creatingโ€”deal? ๐Ÿค

๐ŸŽ‰ I understand this is for fun.

4cats is fun, affordable, and all about enjoying the process. No grades, no pressureโ€”just a joyful way to make art part of your life. This isnโ€™t a college-level course (and we think thatโ€™s a good thing) ๐ŸŽˆ

๐Ÿ“ I understand things donโ€™t always work out.

Even if your piece makes it through the wheel-throwing stage, itโ€™s not guaranteed to survive the kiln journey. Clay can crack, warp, lose a piece, orโ€”on rare occasionsโ€”go full drama and explode. There are lots of reasons this can happen, and itโ€™s all a normal (and valuable!) part of the pottery process. Every potter has been thereโ€”itโ€™s how we learn.

๐Ÿ‘ Getting Ready for a Hands-On Experience

Throwing on the clay wheel is a tactile, hands-on activityโ€”and long fingernails can make it trickier. Itโ€™s not impossible (there are workarounds!), but it does put you in โ€œhard mode,โ€ which can be frustrating for beginners. If you're new to the wheel, consider trimming your nails beforehand to make the experience a bit easier and more enjoyable.

๐Ÿ“ง Iโ€™ve read the policies โ€” and Iโ€™ll email if I have questions.

Our hands are usually full (literally), so email is the best way to get clear answers. Plus, itโ€™s hard to answer questions when weโ€™re elbow-deep in clay.

๐Ÿ“ฆ I know pickup is Sat & Sun, 2โ€“6pm.

Unless itโ€™s a long weekend or staff breakโ€”weโ€™ll always update the calendar and send a note if things shift ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘• Iโ€™ll dress for mess.

We donโ€™t have apronsโ€”so wear something you wonโ€™t cry over if it gets painty, clay-y, or glazed. You may be working with clay but it's an art studio with paint and other mediums and other people around you working. Accidents happen.

๐Ÿ” I know things donโ€™t always go as planned.

Sometimes we cancel for weather or staff illness. No refunds, but weโ€™ll credit or reschedule โ€” promise!

๐Ÿ‘ฏ Iโ€™ll make sure my crew knows the rules, too.

Bringing friends or family? I'll fill them in โ€” no surprises, no confusion, just good vibes all around.

๐Ÿงฑ Clay Workshop Promises

Because clay is fragile (and sneaky)

๐Ÿ‰ I promise not to add tiny bits.

Theyโ€™re cute, but they crack. Long ears, spiky tails, and delicate extras rarely surviveโ€”and seeing them broken is the worst ๐Ÿ˜ข

๐Ÿ›‘ Iโ€™ll keep my hands off other peopleโ€™s art.

Please donโ€™t touch the art shelves or display demosโ€”theyโ€™re for eyes only. Every piece deserves a safe trip through the studio.

๐ŸŒ€ Iโ€™ll scratch, slip, and stick it like I mean it.

Just pressing clay together wonโ€™t cut it. Scratch + slip = staying power (and less heartbreak later).

๐Ÿงฑ Iโ€™ll make clay thick & smooth.

Weโ€™re not bossyโ€”just good clay coaches. Your piece needs to be thick enough to survive the kiln. Too thin? Itโ€™ll crack. Too sharp? It might cut. Smooth + sturdy = success.

โœจ Communication + Mindset

Weโ€™re here to helpโ€”but we need your help, too.

๐Ÿช„ Iโ€™ll speak up if Iโ€™m stuck.

Weโ€™re always checking in, but if you need help, donโ€™t waitโ€”raise a hand and weโ€™ll be right there โœจ

๐ŸŒŸ Iโ€™m making art, not perfection.

Every piece is a step forwardโ€”even the weird ones. Itโ€™s all part of the journey โœจ

๐Ÿšซ ๐Ÿง’ I wonโ€™t sneak into the wrong age group.

Adults-only means 16+. Other grown-ups came for quiet vibes and no tiny voicesโ€”but donโ€™t worry, weโ€™ve got family sessions for that! ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿง’ Iโ€™ll supervise my kids during the workshop.

In family workshops, grown-ups stay, tooโ€”to help, supervise, and create together. No observers, pleaseโ€”everyone is a paid participant, whether you're making your own project or sharing one with your child.

๐ŸŒ€ I know the clay wheel takes practice.

Wheel throwing can be tricky at firstโ€”centering, shaping, and keeping things upright isnโ€™t easy right away. Itโ€™s totally normal to feel challenged. Be patient with yourself and remember: no one becomes a potter in a single session. Youโ€™re learning something awesome (and messy), and thatโ€™s the real win. โœจ

Warning:ย May cause spontaneous creativity, newfound confidence, and an odd desire to tell people
โ€œIโ€™m a potter now.โ€
