FAQs—Kids Classes

Before Class

Dress For Mess! Acrylic paint does not come out of clothes. We cannot guarantee that clay or other art materials will come out of clothes. Students should always come to the studio dressed for mess.

For kids art studio time, kids will need to bring a water bottle, and be dressed for mess—acrylic paint does NOT come out of clothes.

Please do not pack toys, stuffed animals, iPads, or pets. These are all very distracting to other students and may get paint on them. If your child has a cell phone, please let them know it is not permitted to be used during class time and needs to be kept away.

Yes, parents/guardians please discuss the following before student(s) arrive to class. To prepare, it is important for kids to know to take their time, go slow and enjoy the process with their creations.

When creating we will emphasize using different techniques and the art of adding small details. We will encourage enjoying the process, creativity, patience, and attention to detail.

Parents, please discuss this expectation with children before the class in order to ensure your child understands that we will be creating with details and practice in mind.

* Our goal is to maintain a respectful, patient, and creative learning environment. Please note disrespectful and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. In the event of misconduct, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately. No refunds or credits for missed time in the event a parent needs to be called if a child is not able continue with the class either partially or permanently due to bullying, or disruptive, violent, inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour.

Safety And Behaviour

For the safety and security of our students, we do not leave the premises. This means you don’t have to worry about sunscreen, sunburns, bee stings, or heat stroke.

Yes, every staff member has a police record check.

Students wash hands frequently, including before eating. The art studio is thoroughly sanitized at the end of every day, as well as throughout the day between activities. We do not permit students who are visibly ill to attend and ask that parents keep students home when they are sick.

Lateness/Absences/Cancellation

No problem at all! With kids art studio time, you only book the classes you plan to attend. If something comes up, you can cancel up to 1 hour before the class using the “view/change booking” button in your confirmation email, and the credit will go right back on your file. No catchup classes needed — each session is a standalone project!

Being on time is very important — most instruction happens in the first 15 minutes, and arriving late means your child may miss key steps. That said, we understand things happen! If you're just a few minutes behind, we'll help your child catch up when they arrive. If you expect to be more than 10 minutes late, we’ll do our best to support them, but please know we can’t pause the class or repeat full instructions. Our team is teaching during class time and unable to answer calls, so we appreciate your understanding.

We don’t offer refunds, but don’t worry — you won’t lose your class credit! If you need to cancel, you can do so up to 1 hour before your session using the “view/change booking” button in your confirmation email. Your credit will automatically be returned to your account and is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Issues, Behaviour & Conversation

We want every child to feel safe, supported, and excited to create! We ask that all participants follow instructions, use materials respectfully, and treat others with kindness. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour (like throwing materials, not listening to instructors, or bothering other artists) may result in the child being removed from class. In these cases, a parent or guardian will be called for immediate pickup. Thanks for helping us keep the studio a fun and creative space for everyone!

The Studio Leader is in charge of all decisions in the studio. You're already speaking to the manager—there’s no one else to escalate to, and no alternate answer waiting in the wings.

Our policies are clear, and they exist for a reason: they help us create a space that’s fun, respectful, and welcoming for everyone.

We totally understand that not every studio is the right fit for every person. If our vibe or policies aren’t your cup of tea, that’s okay. We truly wish you well on your creative journey.

We’re all about trying new things, having fun, and making art in a supportive space. That’s the kind of studio we’re proud to run.

Inclusion at 4Cats

At 4Cats, we believe that art is for everyone. Our kids programs are designed to be safe, welcoming, and joyful for all children.

We’re dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for every child—regardless of ability, neurodiversity, cultural background, or personal identity. We celebrate individuality and encourage creativity without comparison.

Every child is unique. If your child has specific needs, we encourage you to share them with us ahead of time so we can plan together for a smooth and positive visit. We’re always listening, learning, and looking for ways to improve.

If additional support is required:

  • A parent, guardian, caregiver, or aide is welcome to attend at no extra cost to provide 1:1 support during a kids-only session (where parents or guardians wouldn’t normally attend).
  • We proudly accept the Access 2 card for all programs.

We understand that families managing disabilities or medical conditions may face unpredictable changes. While our classes are non-refundable, we’re happy to offer studio credit or transfers in accessibility-related situations. Just reach out—we’re here to help.
