Workshop Registration & Participation Policy
Every attendee must have their own paid, registered spot. One registration is for one person only. Observers and non-participating helpers are not permitted.
Children & Adult Supervision
- Ages 12+: May attend independently without an adult.
- Ages 8–11: Must attend with a registered and paid adult. A maximum of 2 children may attend per adult.
- Ages 6–7: Must attend with a registered and paid adult, with 1 adult required per child to ensure proper support throughout the workshop.
- Under Age 6: For safety reasons, we cannot accommodate younger children, babies, or toddlers in the studio, even if they are not participating.
- Adult Participation: Accompanying adults must participate in the same project as their child so they can provide assistance throughout the experience.
Important: Workshop capacity is fixed, and every participant requires their own seat. We cannot add guests or adjust registrations on the day of the workshop. Please double-check your booking quantity before checkout.
Glazing & Firing
Glazing is a separate visit and is not included in this booking. Your clay artwork will be ready for glazing approximately 14 days after your workshop. A separate glazing appointment and fee are required.
Please note: Kiln firing carries inherent risks, including cracks, breakage, crazing, or even kiln explosions. These are natural possibilities when working with clay, and refunds or credits cannot be provided if they occur.
A Little Pottery Inspiration! 🔥
We highly recommend watching The Great Pottery Throw Down! It's a fantastic show that gives you a realistic (and entertaining!) look at working with clay. Even experienced potters cross their fingers when opening the kiln, hoping their pieces haven't cracked, their glazes have turned out, and everything looks the way they imagined.
It's a great reminder that pottery is about experimenting, learning, having fun, and cheering each other on. That's what we're all about at 4Cats!

Clay 101
The most important thing to remember when working with clay is to relax and enjoy the process of making hand made art! Clay is like magical mud for creating fantastic pottery and cool ceramics. First, you shape it into whatever you want. Then it has to air dry and go into a super-hot oven called a kiln, where it gets fired at really high temperatures (around 1,200°C!). After it’s been fired once it’s ready for the colourful and clear glazes! Finally, it gets fired again to cure the glazes to the clay.
